Live with kindness.

The next morning,
I left the shelter and walked to the seaside, wanting to see that ocean again.
A young couple was sitting on a bench, fixing their hair and gear. They seemed to have camped on the beach last night,
their hair shaped a little by the sea.
A woman came by, a plastic bag hooked on her wrist and two hot drinks in her hands.
She walked toward them and said,“I think you need these.”
Then she took out toast and bananas (maybe other things too) from the bag, left them, and walked away.
I stood there for a long, long time, watching.
I understood what Alex meant by a “good person”
— not someone who tries to please everyone, but someone who chooses to be kind.
